Stamford Garden Club 2016-2017 Awards

The Garden Club of America awards special recognition to members and non-members at the National level, at the Zone Level and from the Zone to be awarded at the local level when such awards are requested by the local garden club. In addition, The Stamford Garden Club has over many years developed SGC Awards to recognize our members’ special efforts and interests, and nonmembers whose activities support the goals of the SGC and the GCA.

THE BETTY CHASE AWARD 
Established in 1993 by Anne Boden, this bird on a wooden pedestal is to be presented to a member who most embodies the spirit of The Stamford Garden Club.

THE JANE DEFREITAS CREATIVITY AWARD
Established in 1997, a silver bowl (the bowl has a base for the extension of names) is to be presented to a member for inventive and imaginative ideas.

Awarded to Peggy Erlenkotter and Alicia Clarke

HORTICULTURE
An antique English brass bowl is awarded to the member receiving the most horticulture points at monthly meetings and flower shows, combined.

FLORAL DESIGN: THE ADA STEBBINS BOWL (two silver bowls)
Awarded to the member receiving the most artistic points at monthly meetings and flower shows, combined.

Awarded to Wendy McCabe

SWEEPSTAKES
A prize, a silver server, will be awarded for the highest total points received at monthly meetings and flower shows, combining Horticulture, Artistic, and Photography

Awarded to Candy Cushing

GOOD DIGGERS
In recognition of effort for the Stamford Garden Club. The awarded Certificate states the specific area of effort.

Awarded to Barbara Brodbeck, Stephne Behrend & Myra Davis

THE GLORIA HOLLISTER ANABLE AWARD
Established in 1980 by Marion Glowka, this stone with a plaque is to be presented by The Stamford Garden Club to a member or nonmember for outstanding achievement, or education in areas of conservation, historic preservation, environmental protection or civic enhancement.

THE ELIZABETH C. HEROD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD
Established in 2012 to honor member Beth Herod, the first Stamford Garden Club photography judge, and her devotion to Photography as a new division within The Garden Club of America. A silver platter is to be awarded to the member receiving the most points at monthly meetings and flower shows, combined.
