Horticulture Schedule:

Bulbs. A collection of 3 cut flowering bulbs, each a different variety. To be exhibited in a clear glass container of exhibitor’s choice.
- Class 1: Daffodils
- Class 2: Others
- Hint: Daffodils contain a toxin poisonous to other flowers. Daffodils must be all in one container, not mixed with tulips, hyacinths, etc

- Class 3: Flowering tree branch from exhibitor’s garden of no more than 30” from rim of container to tip. To be displayed in owner’s container.
- Class 4: Flowering shrub branch from exhibitor’s garden of no more than 30” from rim of container to tip. To be displayed in owner’s container.

Houseplants – must have been owned and grown by exhibitor for a minimum of 6 months. Containers may not exceed 14”. Provide a saucer if the pot has a drainage hole.
- Class 5: Houseplants grown for foliage
- Class 6: Houseplants grown for flowers

Container Gardening – Beyond Annuals
Renée Marsh is a garden designer, an advanced master gardener, and a horticulturist.
She is the owner of a gardening design business, A Simpler Place. For five years she was the Head Gardener for the Town of Monroe where she designed and managed gardens at the parks and town buildings. Renée teaches gardening classes for the New York Botanical Garden and adult education programs.
Alone or in groups, containers can create vignettes, lead the eye through the landscape, act as a sculptural interest, and screen or frame a view. A wide variety of plants can be grown in containers from flowering & foliar annuals and perennials to shrubs & trees and the selection of containers is endless. Learn about approaches to designing with containers, including how, when, where, and why you should use containers to enhance your garden. Gain tips and tricks for great plant combinations in containers of all kinds.
